The OCEARCH an collaborative, inclusive and open-sourced project to geared to helping scientists collect previously unattainable data on animal movements from deep in the world’s oceans.
OCEARCH conducts research expeditions aboard the M/V OCEARCH, which serves as an at-sea laboratory. Tags such as SPOT, acoustic, and accelerometer are attached, morphometrics are recorded, and samples, such as blood and tissue, are collected.
OCEARCH’s mission is to accelerate the ocean’s return to balance and abundance, through fearless innovations in scientific research, education, outreach, and policy, using unique collaborations of individuals and organizations in the US and abroad.
OCEARCH is a recognized world leader in generating critical scientific data related to tracking (telemetry) and biological studies of keystone marine species such as great white and tiger sharks, in conjunction with conservation outreach and education at a measurable global scale.
