15/05/2019 saw the completion of the 100th ship-to-ship (STS) cargo transfer of liquified natural gas (LNG) in Honningsvåg, Norway, supervised by LNGSTS, the leading STS service provider to energy companies around the world.
Since November 2018, LNGSTS has been working with the shipping partners of the Yamal LNG project in Russia to safely and securely transfer cargoes from their Yamal ice-class fleet to conventional LNG carriers, for forward transit into global energy markets.
In just six months, the LNGSTS supervision team has completed 100 cargo transfers, a project management undertaking unprecedented in the industry.
“The LNGSTS team has always been at the forefront of commercial ship-to-ship transfers of LNG. We have been there since the beginning of the industry, and overseen breakthroughs in how LNG can be safely transferred under varying, challenging operational environments,” commented Stuart Goddard, General Manager of LNGSTS.
“Now we are in the far North, inside the Arctic Circle. In harsh weather conditions, we are working at a scale never seen before in the LNG industry. It is a testament to the LNGSTS project management and Superintendent team.
Over 10 million m3 of LNG transhipped since November 2018. 23 different vessels involved in 62 operations and still ongoing.
