RobotUnion, EU-funded acceleration programme related to the robotics industry, has launched an open call with €4 million public funding for European robotic startups and SMEs (small & medium-sized enterprises). VTT is one of RobotUnion’s technology partners providing technology and research support for successful candidates.

In this open call, RobotUnion will select 20 European companies to develop innovative projects in the field of robotics linked to agri-food, healthcare, civil engineering and manufacturing.

Selected companies can receive up to €223,000 public funding as well as access to technological support from European robotics experts and business acceleration services. The best-performing companies participating in the programme will have a chance to obtain an additional €1 million of private investment in funding rounds lead by the VCs CHRYSALIX and ODENSE SEED AND VENTURE, with the support of Blumorpho.

Who should apply?

The ideal project RobotUnion is looking for is disruptive and innovative, beyond the state of the art and with a degree of differentiation with its competitors. The ideal projects are also looking for additional investment for scaling their business globally.

Robotics companies willing to develop challenging technology and systems should be applicable to the following markets: Manufacturing, Health, Civil Infrastructure and Agri-food. Companies that do not fit these sectors are encouraged to apply as Open Disruptive Innovation.

How to apply?

From research to setting up The 20 startups and SMEs selected in the open call will begin an acceleration process of 2- 16 months. The participants will be accompanied by Technical and Business mentors from their research phase to setting up the business.

The startups selected will take part in a rigorous and personalised training programme and will have access to ISDI’s international network of recognised mentors from Google, Airbnb, Ikea, Yahoo, Prisa and Microsoft, among others. Successful candidates will also receive business acceleration and mentoring from leaders in agri-food, healthcare, civil engineering and manufacturing sector.

Companies will receive extensive technical and technological support provided by the leading institutes in robotics R&D in Europe: VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Danish Technological Institute, TU DELFT, TECNALIA and PIAP.
